POLICE APPRECIATION

CELEBRATED YEARLY IN THE

MONTH OF DECEMBER

INTRODUCTION:

As local business entrepreneurs in the ROGEE^® Startup Companies in SILICON VALLEY SIERRA LEONE, we, local Sierra Leoneans, recognize the importance of the local Police, which is made up of individuals (male and female) who have dedicated their personal time and their personal safety to the protection of life, liberty, and property in our local communities.

Every year, in the month of December, all the Startups team members in Silicon Valley Sierra Leone collectively host ''THANK YOU'' events at multiple locations to celebrate, honor, thank, and appreciate the local Police Officers and the Community Safety Volunteers serving the communities where our Startups are located.

BACKGROUND:

The ROGEE ANNUAL POLICE APPRECIATION event was started in December 2018 when Rogee Rogers, the initial Startups Accelerator and Investor for Silicon Valley Sierra Leone designated December as Police Appreciation Month. The first event was held on 16 December, 2018 at the Wellington Police Post in honor of the community where Rogee Rogers spent his teenage years (1976 to 1986) before migrating to the United States to join his father, the late Sierra Leonean Musician, S.E. Rogie Rogers of ''My Lovely Elizabeth'' fame.

WHY POLICE APPRECIATION:

We, the ROGEE^® Silicon Valley Sierra Leone Startups and our Advertising Partners, appreciate the Sierra Leone Police for 3 main reasons. The 1^st and 2^nd reasons are more for the benefits of us, the people and local businesses; and the 3rd reason is more for the benefit of the Sierra Leone Police personnel.

1. Human Beings:

Our primary reason for the ROGEE ANNUAL POLICE APPRECIATION events is to recognize the individual human beings in our communities who have dedicated their personal time and their personal safety to the protection of life, liberty, and property in our local communities.

2. Anarchy Deterred:

It's a universally known fact that without forceful deterrence, people can be mean with each other (anarchy and disorder can easily happen in a community). Research has shown that police presence deters (prevents) crime by increasing the perception that criminals will be caught and punished. We appreciate the individual police who puts on the uniform and physically becomes a symbol of law and order in our communities.

3. Opportunity to Give:

During the events, we appreciate the police with kind spoken words. However, we also appreciate the police in deeds (by action). At each event, we give each police personnel a ''THANK YOU'' certificate, an enjoyable 2-course professionally catered meal, a greeting card, and a financial gift of Le100,000 for the Officers and Le50,000 for the CSVs.

Appreciate Every Individual Personnel

There are about 14,000+ individual Sierra Leoneans (male and female; our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles, and aunties) serving in the police force -- serving us, the people and local businesses. It is the ultimate goal of Silicon Valley Sierra Leone to eventually have the ROGEE ANNUAL POLICE APPRECIATION events across the entire country of Sierra Leone. Every year, December is Police Appreciation Month in Sierra Leone.
