1 | SHARE HOLDERS | SHAREHOLDERS own 100% of all shares of the Startup company. SHAREHOLDERS can be individuals, companies, and/or agencies who may or may not work directly or indirectly at the company. The SHAREHOLDERS select (vote to hire) the Board of Directors. All profits belong to the SHAREHOLDERS of the company. |
2 | BOARD OF DIRECTORS | The BOARD OF DIRECTORS is the body of (usually experienced and expert) individuals selected by the SHAREHOLDERS to provide the direction of the Startup. They meet at intervals (monthly, quarterly, etc.) to review and/or update the direction the Startup is going in (i.e. the type of business the company is being). |
3 | EXECUTIVES | The EXECUTIVES (Company Officers) are individuals who are hired by the BOARD OF DIRECTORS to ''execute'' (implement) the direction of the Startup which has been enacted by the BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The EXECUTIVES are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Startup. An EXECUTIVE is an employee of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS and can be removed by a BOARD vote at any time the BOARD sees fit. |
4 | EMPLOYEES | The EMPLOYEES are the mass group of people hired by the EXECUTIVES to carry out the tasks set by the EXECUTIVES. The EMPLOYEES are the ones who do the day-to-day workings of the Startup under executive supervision. Depending on your Startup, your EMPLOYEES may possibly be your most valuable assets. Furthermore, in Silicon Valley Sierra Leone, each Startup has an ''EMPLOYEE SHARES POOL'' where the EMPLOYEES collectively own a portion of profits of the company. |
INDIRECT OWNERSHIP | ||
5 | PARTNERS | PARTNERS / ASSOCIATES / AFFILIATES play a strategic role in the success of the Startup. PARTNERS may own non-shares and other value elements (e.g. a business deal) needed for the success of the Startup. PARTNERS can make or break a team. |
6 | VENDORS | VENDORS / SUPPLIERS / PROVIDERS play a powerful role in the success of the Startup. They directly affect the ownership of the Startup because they provide the raw material needed to sustain the Startup. Hence VENDORS are vital to the team. |
7 | CUSTOMERS | Without CUSTOMERS to pay for and use your company's products and services, you have not company. Like your VENDORS and PARTNERS, your CUSTOMERS fall under INDIRECT OWNERSHIP because they directly affect the bottom-line of your Startup. The best companies in the world are those which have a loyal customers base of paying users. |
